Liverpool respond to Barcelona's latest bid for Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho's future is becoming one of the summer's most intriguing stories.

Barcelona see the Brazilian as a potential replacement for Neymar, and thanks to the sale of his international team-mate, they easily have the resources to take him to the Nou Camp.

The Blaugrana made their first move three weeks ago with a £72million bid, which Liverpool unsurprisingly rebuffed.

The Telegraph report the Reds' resolve has now been tested with another offer of £90million. Not only have Liverpool rejected it, they have reiterated their stance that the playmaker is not for sale at any price.

Of course, the reality is that every player has a price, but they're doing remarkably well to hold onto their prize asset so far.

That's despite the 25-year-old having decided he wants to join the La Liga giants because he thinks he'll have a better chance of winning regular silverware.

Liverpool are holding firm

Coutinho is not forcing a move, though Barca are hoping they will eventually wear Liverpool down before the end of the transfer window.

It's claimed that FSG and Jurgen Klopp are baffled by the reports coming out of Spain in the last few days that a deal is imminent.

Both Mundo Deportivo and Sport suggested that he would be announced as a Barcelona player on Tuesday - obviously, that didn't happen, and unless Liverpool have a serious change of heart, it's going to be very difficult for the clubs to make much progress in the negotiations.

It remains to be seen whether Coutinho has played his last game for the club. A sore back may well rule him out of their trip to Watford this weekend and he has missed several training sessions as he continues to recover.

Whatever Klopp says, and however many bids Liverpool reject, their fans are getting increasingly anxious that they are about to lose their star man. Check out some of the reaction below:
