12 monkeys die of cardiac arrest after tiger scare

Veterinary experts have claimed a dozen monkeys that were found dead in India suffered a simultaneous heart attack after they were scared by a tiger.

Accoprding to Mail Online, the dead monkeys were discovered by some workers who were in a forest clearing and were initially baffled by the apparent mass death.

People suspected that the monkeys were poisoned but after carrying out a post-mortem, it was revealed that they all died of cardiac arrest.

Vet Dr. Sanjeev Kumar said, “It was confirmed in the post-mortem result that the monkeys died due to cardiac arrest.

“The monkeys could have died due to tiger’s roar as tigers often traverse that area.”

Some villagers attested that tigers are often in the area and were heard roaring at the time of the deaths.

However, some wildlife experts criticised the post-mortem results stating that the mammals could have died from an infection.

Dr. Brijendra Singh, a veterinarian, told the Times of India: “Monkeys are a wild animal and they don’t die in this manner. All the monkeys might have been suffering from some infection that claimed their lives.”
