Marco Reus Is Named In Germany's Provisional World Cup Squad

He missed out on the 2014 triumph due to injury, before his rotten luck continued when he was absent from the Euros two years later but Marco Reus' international tournament heartbreak could be coming to an end. The Borussia Dortmund vice captain has been named in Joachim Low's provisional Germany squad for the showpiece in Russia and will be on the plane if all goes well.

Germany have announced their provisional World Cup squad...However, his Dortmund teammate Mario Gotze, the man who scored the winner in the final in extra time four years ago, has been overlooked for Die Mannschaft.

While this is only the preliminary squad and things could change, it's a huge deal for Reus given the injury heartache he's experienced in recent times.

He missed the first half of the Bundesliga campaign through injury but finished strongly with seven goals - his form clearly catching the eye of Low.

The 28-year old hasn't featured for his country since playing 29 minutes in a 4-1 win over Italy in March 2016 but now looks to be in a very good position to make the final squad.

Here's hoping the former Borussia Monchengladbach man can stay clear of injury and finally get the chance to represent Germany on the world stage.
